Launch of Stine’s Home from Home

29th October 2024

This month we celebrated the official launch of Stine’s Home from Home with a ribbon cutting to reopen the home to patients and their families following its recent refurbishment.

Part of Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity's Home Away from Home Appeal, Stine’s Home from Home provides free accommodation to patients and their families within walking distance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, keeping families together through difficult times.

Brain tumour patients come from all over the West Midlands and even across the country to receive treatment and surgery at the QE. At what is already an extremely challenging time, Stine’s Home from Home takes away the extra stress of having to find somewhere to stay near to the hospital, as well as having to pay for travel and parking costs. Having loved ones close by makes the treatment journey for these patients that little bit easier. The accommodation provides a calm and relaxing space away from the hospital setting where families can enjoy quality time together and feel some sort of normality.

Founder of The Giles’ Trust and brain tumour survivor, Stine Giles said "Stine’s Home from Home means a lot to me and makes me really emotional. I can only imagine the benefit families feel by being able to stay here, it would have been invaluable to my family when I was going through my treatment.”
