Stine’s Home from Home

We are pleased to announce our support of University Hospitals Birmingham Charity’s Home away from Home Appeal with the opening of Stine’s Home from Home.

UHB Charity’s Home away from Home Appeal provides patients and their families with free accommodation near to the hospital, keeping families together during difficult times. The Giles’ Trust Brain Tumour Fund has announced its funding of Stine’s Home from Home, which will support brain tumour patients and their families who are going through treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

Stine Giles, founder of The Giles’ Trust said: “I understand what a worrying and stressful time these families are going through. Having somewhere to stay within walking distance of the hospital is such a lifeline at a time like this and it would have made a huge difference to me and my family when I was going through my own treatment. With our Home from Home, I hope to help other families going through the same thing. To have such a calm and relaxing place to recharge and spend time with family away from the hospital setting can make a very difficult time that little bit easier.”

Karen Jones, fundraiser for The Giles’ Trust Brain Tumour Fund, said: “We are delighted to support UHB Charity’s Home away from Home Appeal. Stine’s Home from Home means patients’ loved ones can stay close by, taking away the stress of finding accommodation and parking near to the hospital. It’s so important to Ashley and Stine that we can offer this as a charity and continue to fund brain tumour research, pioneering equipment, as well as supporting brain tumour patients and their families.”

UHB Charity and The Giles’ Trust will be refurbishing Stine’s Home from Home and it will be ready to accommodate families by the end of the year. The Giles’ Trust is extremely grateful to its fundraisers for their continued support, helping the Charity to continue to go over and above for brain tumour patients and their families.
