21st October 2022
Karen Jones and Esme Lloyd-Kelly – Fundraisers for The Giles’ Trust Brain Tumour fund were delighted to be invited to speak at University of Birmingham and University Hospitals Birmingham patient involvement group ‘BERTI’.
BERTI stands for ‘Brain tumour Education and Research paTient and public Involvement group. BERTI provides a forum to meet with other people affected by brain tumours and share experiences. It also allows patients to understand their conditions better through working with clinical staff and researchers to improve care and facilitate research for people living with brain tumours.
On the 7th October we were invited to their first face to face meeting at the Exchange in Birmingham. The day offered us the opportunity to meet with patients, medical staff and researchers and a chance to talk about The Giles’ Trust – who we are, the amazing projects we fund what we would like to fund in the future.
It was a wonderful day and a great opportunity to meet patients and hear their stories. We are so grateful to BERTI for allowing us to spread the word on The Giles’ Trust. We are looking forward to working with you in the future.
